Real-time simulation to eliminate defects in the production process
Fersa Bearings participates in the EU-funded project, STREAM-0D, which seeks to monitor the production process to achieve maximum accuracy.
Fersa Bearings collaborates with nine other European entities in the STREAM-0D project, coordinated by the Technological Institute of Aragon, ITA. Among the participating organizations, also note ZF-TRW, The Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) or the central School of Nantes.
The goal of STREAM-0D is the development of simulation techniques to make decisions and adjust processes in real time to achieve:
- The minimization of the effects of component variation.
- Improved process capability, productivity and efficiency.
- Reducing manufacturing times and costs.
- Reducing scrap and rework.
- More flexible processes, optimization of production batches and reducing downtime for changing design specifications.
STREAM-0D will have funding of more than 5 million euros and a duration of 42 months. It has been officially presented at a ceremony at the Fersa Bearings productin plant in Zaragoza and has been carried out by the Minister of Innovation, Research and University of Aragon, Pilar Alegría, the Director General of Industry, Commerce and Artisan Crafts of Aragon, Fernando Fernández and the Director of the Technological Institute of Aragon, Angel Fernandez.
The project has been approved by the European Commission within its Research for Development program, H2020-Factories of the Future , which seeks to improve the competitiveness of European companies.
This project should allow Fersa to improve our processes, with machines that measure, communicate with each other and adjust their working parameters in order to become more competitive everyday. It is in line with our future manufacturing projects and we will help tackle them within a European framework.
